Tita, from the Afro-Mexican community of Chacahua, in Oaxaca, supports her family by fishing. She is a strong woman on the lookout for opportunities for personal growth so she can partake more in her community’s wellbeing.
Mónica Morales García discovered the Black People’s Movement when she was 19, and since then she embraced her Afro brothers and sisters, their culture – dances, traditions and food – and their ancestors. She is part of the Ñaa’tunda (Black Woman) Collective that works with women and for women.
