A collaboration between veteran filmmaker Agnès Varda, pioneer of the Nouvelle Vague, and urban artist JR, known for his graphic interventions on streets across the world. Together, they capture the faces and places that all audiences will remember.
Agnès Varda is a French director recognized as being a pioneer of the Nouvelle Vague and of feminism in cinema. With a career six decades long, she has experimented diverse ways of making a movie, and her vast filmography includes both documentaries and fiction. She received an honorary Oscar in 2017 for her lifetime achievement.
JR is a French street artist, photographer and director. He is known for flyposting enlarged black-and-white photos on city walls for all to see. His first film, Women Are Heroes, was part of Cannes’ Official Selection in 2010. In 2011 he received the TED award for his work as a photograffeur.
