SYNOPSIS

At Lord’s Gym, a boxing ring founded by former boxer Richard Lord, people of different ages, ethnicities and social classes gather to train and interact. Women, men, children, teenagers, doctors, judges, businessmen, immigrants, both professional and amateur, come together to share their passion for this sport.

 

BIOGRAPHY

Frederick Wiseman (Boston, 1930) is a revered film director whose work stands out for its particular way of portraying reality. With over forty films and fifty years in production, Wiseman has explored various institutions and key spaces in Western culture, delving deep into human nature by showing society from a wide ethical and existential array. In the tradition of direct cinema, his style has been recognized through awards such as the IDFA Living Legend Award, the Honorary Oscar and the France Culture Prix Consécration at Cannes. Ambulante dedicates its 2018 Tour Retrospective to this prolific filmmaker.
