SYNOPSIS

The inside of a London museum safeguards masterpieces from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. This film describes the space, its organization and how it is curated, as well as the relations that arise between the public and the museum workers. A mirror-game between film and art.

 

BIOGRAPHY

Frederick Wiseman (Boston, 1930) is a revered film director whose work stands out for its particular way of portraying reality. With over forty films and fifty years in production, Wiseman has explored various institutions and key spaces in Western culture, delving deep into human nature by showing society from a wide ethical and existential array. In the tradition of direct cinema, his style has been recognized through awards such as the IDFA Living Legend Award, the Honorary Oscar and the France Culture Prix Consécration at Cannes. Ambulante dedicates its 2018 Tour Retrospective to this prolific filmmaker.
