For a long time, the inhabitants of Cherán, Michoacán, were harassed by members of the organized crime, who blackmailed them and destroyed the surrounding forests. Armed with sticks and stones, the people decided to banish the narcos.
Gastón Andrade has Film and Screenplay studies at the CUEC – UNAM. His fiction short Los murmullos was awarded the Ingmar Bergman Award at the Uppsala International Film Festival, and his documentary, El árbol, participated at IDFA, Cannes and GIFF film festivals, amongst others. He was a FONCA Young Creators grantee and received support from the IMCINE’s Film Creators Program. Can’t See The Forest For The Trees is an independent production made with the support of Andrade’s own production company, La oscuridad de la nube.
