The Value of the Land reflects one of the most grave situations confronting rural Mexico today: the depredation of fields caused by the buying and selling of communal land between businesses and farmers. Basilio is a peasant who refuses to sell his land in a Yucatán town, in which most of his peers have already sold. This documentary gives us a peek into the many difficult circumstances that peasants confront everyday and lays out important questions about the future of the countryside.
